I am both excited and grateful to introduce you to our team and experience – welcome to OpnRoad.

OpnRoad (pronounced ‘open road’) is a boutique mergers and acquisitions firm built on the core principle of entrepreneurship.

We strive to simplify the complexity of M&A (mergers and acquisitions) by developing purposefully engineered tools to deliver immense value to our clients, their private shareholdings, and their families.

  • Founded the StokeFM radio station in 2011
  • Served on Revelstoke City Council for four years
  • In 2014, Scott purchased every top business sales book on Amazon and read a book a day for 44 days straight. He reviewed each book and posted a same-day video review to YouTube.

Outside of work, Scott enjoys a good surf trip down south and a fresh power lap down “Catcher’s Mitt” in Revelstoke, BC.

Outside of work, you’ll find Jim on, in, or under the nearest body of water or sailing in the Caribbean, working towards his Yachtmaster certifications.

Rick J. Krebs

Rick brings a unique blend of sales, entrepreneurial, and financial experience to Business Sales Group. He began his career as a CPA, working in Nevada and Utah, where valuable financial experience was gained.

Rick graduated with a Master’s of Science Degree and Bachelor’s Degree from Utah State University. As a business owner he started Liberty Mortgage, a mortgage bank licensed in 23 states nationwide. He eventually sold the successful company to an investor from California. He has been in the M&A space helping people sell their businesses since July, 2010. During his first year with BRC, he listed and sold more businesses than the entire office combined.

As a sale-side and buy-side advisor for Mergers and Acquisitions transactions Rick’s advisory, accounting, and management skills are invaluable when advising sellers as they maneuver the intricate details of the deal through closing. Rick is also a CNA (Certified Negotiation Expert) which helps him negotiate the most favorable terms for clients in a transaction.

Rick was quoted by FORBES as an expert sales-side advisor who helps Sellers avoid the pitfalls of selling a business.

Ron is both the founder of Equitas M&A and Broker of Record. He is a Certified Business Intermediary and a member of the International Business Brokers Association, previously serving as Secretary-Treasurer.

Financial statements review, business valuation, corporate strategy, and business development services are all a part of his repertoire for clients who are either buying or selling a business. He’s also an avid runner, having completed over a dozen marathons.

Danielle has worked with over 40 brands supporting their marketing strategies. Her responsibilities have included targeted marketing campaigns, middle-of-the funnel strategic marketing, promotional planning, social media strategies, monthly newsletters, and copywriting.

She attended the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business and has a diploma in Environmental Science from Lakeland College.

Outside of work, Danielle and her husband love to share their love of the outdoors with their young daughter through camping, hiking, biking and skiing.

Our Story

The Beginning

In 2005, Scott kickstarted his entrepreneurial career in the cottage country of Muskoka, Ontario by setting up five small businesses. From wakeboard camps to a painting business, by 2010, all five ventures had closed their doors.

The most bitter of these closures being Basecamp, the most recognized wakeboard camp globally, boasting four locations and a team of over 30. Looking back, Basecamp would still be around today with the proper succession planning.

Starting From Scratch

In 2011, Scott set his sights on the mountain town of Revelstoke, BC. Upon arrival, he ventured into the world of food and beverage, starting Duke’s Dogs (hot dogs) and turning a profit early on.

The profits paved the way for something bigger, and that same year, he founded Stoke FM. To this day, its waves continue to broadcast across Revelstoke.

Scott also served as a City Councillor for four years, all while scaling Revelstoke Property Services (RPS) with his partner. In 2018, they sold RPS to Western Trust – a private equity firm based in the United States.

Diving Into M&A

Assisting other owners to sell their businesses began back in 2014. Scott’s first deal closing (sale) was a charming Italian restaurant run by a couple who had been trying to sell for years, with two failed attempts from other brokers.

While still operating RPS, Scott also orchestrated the sale of a movie theatre, print shop, spa, bakery, and burger shack. The thrill of unlocking the value in these businesses and passing on the entrepreneurial spirit resonated with him.

With early wins under his belt, Scott decided to double down in the exhilarating world of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). To better serve clients of all sizes and complexity, he dove headfirst into years of formal education and eventually founded OpnRoad.
